Big Cities such as Manchester, London and Birmingham are known for being extremely busy on the roads and they can be very difficult to park in. As there is such a high number of cars passing through and lots of people working within these cities there can be very limited car park spaces, and even if designated parking areas can fill up quickly especially on busy mornings. Workers within big cities have to make sure that they leave earlier than they need to ensure they get a car park space. Others will end up leaving their car parked in other places that may not be very secure and where they are putting themselves and their cars at risk.

If you are looking to park in a big city it is very important to make sure that you read all the signs that tell you where you can and cannot park. There are many places that people will park, that are only meant for short stays of up to two hours. Some drivers may be unaware of this as they don't read the signs properly resulting in them getting a fine on their car or even risk of being clamped which can cost a lot of money to be removed. Although these kinds of car park spaces usually become free after around 6 o'clock in the evening but it is always a good idea to check before you leave your car anywhere.

Another tip that you should ensure that you consider when parking in a big city, and whenever you leave you car unattended even if this is on your drive, is to make sure that you don't leave any valuables in sight and to ensure they are well hidden. Things that people commonly leave in view are their Satellite Navigation Systems, CD Players and iPods as well as mobile phones and even something small like a bag on the back seat. Anything on show will attract thieves to your car and puts your car at risk. If you do have a Sat Nav you may want to make sure that even if you remove the device you also remove the holder and wipe away the marks on your windscreen so that it doesn't indicate that you have anything valuable left in your glove box.

So if you are ever parking in the city you may find it difficult to find a parking space for your car due to the amount of other vehicles, one thing you should make sure you remember is to not forget about the safety of your car when you leave it.
